The Belgium-born chanteuse Monique Van Vooren, outfitted in a glittering Giorgio di Sant’Angelo number, welcomes singer Connie Francis and hubby Joseph Garzilli to her opening at the Plaza Hotel’s Persian Room on Feb. 18, 1974. Monique speaks French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese fluently and sings just as well. Among the opening night fans were such international personalities as Andy Warhol, Countess Suni Ratazzi (Suni Agnelli of the Fiat family), film producer (Caligula) Franco Rossellini, costume jewelry designer Kenneth Jay Lane, Paulette Goddard and society impresario Earl Blackwell.
