The King of Late Night TV, who reigned for three decades, was honored as Man of the Year by the Wiltwyck School for Boys on May 2, 1971, at the Waldorf Astoria. He brought his girlfriend, Joanna Holland, whom he married the following year (until he unmarried her in 1985 for a fourth wife). Mayor John Lindsay presented the award and David Frost served as emcee of the program, which included Pearl Bailey among the stars. The school, based in Westchester, is an interracial treatment center for emotionally disturbed children and their families from disadvantaged neighborhoods of the inner city.
