Genevieve Waite made her singing debut on a record album, produced by husband John Phillips, formerly of the Mamas and Papas, long since disbanded. Elliott Gould hosted a party for her at Manhattan’s private fashionable discotheque, Le Club, on July 16, 1974. On hand were John’s ex, Michelle Phillips, also a former member of the Mamas and Papas. Rock singer Cat Stevens tossed a glass of wine at the photographers, hitting Gould instead. It was that kind of party. Also present, but not in the line of fire, were Joan Hackett, Lorna Luft, Andy Warhol and Mick Jagger.
